Epoxy Flooring Warehouse Project In New Jersey
Our customer was renovating an abandoned warehouse building. After replacing the roof and other repairs, they needed a new epoxy flooring system to accommodate the new tenant’s requirements. This scenario is a specialty for Epoxy Floors NJ, as New Jersey has a large warehouse and distribution presence.
Our work began with identifying all areas in need of substrate resurfacing. We achieve this using high-strength concrete products or epoxy mortars, depending upon the size of the specific area. In either case, our patching was specifically designed to accommodate heavy wear and traffic. Thus, creating long-term solutions. Once that was achieved, we then mechanically abrade the floor using our 8oo pound diamond grinding equipment with state-of-the-art HEPA vacuum systems. This equipment is unique to our operations as it is exactly what this renovation required: minimal dust with a heavy down-pressure load to ensure a solid glue line and a long-term epoxy floor.
Epoxy Flooring Warehouse: Crack Repairs
Once we have completed the mechanical abrasion of the substrate and finished our patching. Our team vacuumed the entire space, which not only left the floor dust-free but also exposed any cracking in the floor. Please note from the image that the substrate profile far exceeds the manufacturer’s specification of a CSP 2, removing any contaminants, as well as a deglossed surface. Our epoxy flooring warehouse project is ready for the application.
Here at Epoxy Floors NJ, we always seek to exceed the specification to ensure our customers are getting the best long-term epoxy floor system and, of course, maximizing return on investment. Thus, we ensure value and a long-term relationship with our customers.
Crack filling is required for moving cracks or old settling cracks. In the case of moving cracks, we typically use a flexible membrane to minimize any concerns for structural deficiencies. This will mitigate any concerns for future voids in the substrate.
The settling cracks we use an epoxy putty-like material and hand trowel those areas to minimize any concerns for the cracks to telescope through the finished floor. Once cured, we then smooth out any trowel markings and leave the floor smooth and ready to start our coating system.
Our Warehouse Epoxy Flooring System
As previously mentioned, our warehouse epoxy flooring design is for high wear and traffic. In addition, it greatly enhances the lighting in a warehouse setting. In addition, it virtually eliminates dusting.
Most importantly, the smooth and even substrate helps to reduce lost loads, injury to your staff, as well as greatly reduces forklift repairs.
Our finished coating system includes a 100% epoxy resin as a build or wear coat. It is a thermally cured solution that welds to the existing, now prepared surface, virtually eliminating any concerns for peeling. To protect against UV degradation and enhance scratch resistance, we then apply a tight coat of an aliphatic urethane coating. This creates a beautiful sheen and adds chemical resistance to mitigate any concerns for spillage, etc.
